Adam Thalhimer, CFA

Adam joined Thompson Davis & Co. in 2016 as director of research. He follows the Building Materials, Building Products, Engineering & Construction, and Telecom Equipment sectors.

Adam began his investment career in 2001 with UBS PaineWebber in New Jersey.  He returned to Richmond in 2002 and joined Scott & Stringfellow as a mutual fund analyst.  In 2003, he transitioned into the equity research department of BB&T Capital Markets. He was employed there for 13 years, first covering Engineering & Construction and eventually adding the Environmental Services and Building Materials sectors. By 2016, he led a three-person team covering nearly two dozen companies and was consistently ranked as a top analyst at the firm.

Adam has received numerous industry awards for stock picking and earnings estimation.  The 2016 Thomson Reuters U.S. Analyst Awards (formerly StarMine)* ranked him #1 for his stock picking in construction and engineering.  In 2015, he was ranked #1 for his stock picking and #3 for his earnings estimates in construction and engineering.  In The Wall Street Journal’s annual “Best on the Street” analyst survey, he was ranked #3 in the heavy machinery and materials industry.  In its 2012 “World’s Top Analysts” survey, Financial Times/StarMine named Adam #1 for his stock picking and #2 for his earnings estimates in construction and engineering.

Adam received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Williams College and is a member of CFA Institute.
